Stuart Lyons joined Braver in 2003 from the Boston office of KPMG where he served since 1986 and managed tax engagements of large construction companies and real estate developers such as Gilbane Co. in Providence, Rhode Island, and Boston Wharf Co., Modern Continental Construction Corp. and Massachusetts Electric Construction, all based in Boston, Massachusetts. He also managed tax engagements for all kinds of manufacturing, high tech, and international business entities.  Prior to 1986, he spent 10 years with Perini Corporation, eventually as Director of Taxes.  Upon his leaving Perini in 1996, the company outsourced its full tax planning and compliance work to KPMG where Stuart was assigned as the Senior Tax Manager of the engagement. 

Stuart is a shareholder of Braver and presently serves as the principal tax consultant on Braver’s largest clients, including the worldwide tax compliance and planning for Perini Corporation.  His expertise includes a comprehensive background in corporate and partnership tax planning, compliance, tax provision analysis and IRS controversy issues related to the construction, real estate, manufacturing and various service industries. He also focuses on both inbound and outbound international tax planning and compliance.

Stuart graduated from the University of Miami and holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Babson College and a Master of Science degree in Taxation from Bentley College.  He is a member of the Association of General Contractors (AGC), American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants.
